Tom Van de Weghe (Ghent, 1975) is an award winning journalist, currently covering the United States of America as correspondent for VRT, the Flemish Broadcasting Corporation. From 2007 until 2012 he was Asia correspondent.
Tom has a masters degree in Eastern European and Russian studies, political sciences and communication.
In 2007 he established for VRT the China Bureau, where he was producing crossmedia stories for television, radio and online. With over 13 years of experience, he's skilled in the whole broadcasting process, from research to recording, editing and distribution.
Until September 2012 he lived with his wife and two children in Beijing. Early 2013 he moved the USA to run the VRT Washington bureau.
Tom Van de Weghe wrote the bestselling book "BEESTIG CHINA" about his experiences in China, published in October 2012 by Borgerhoff & Lamberigts.
Together with his wife Sofie he also created the book 'LEKKEL!", a culinary adventure through Asia, published in December 2012 by Davidsfonds Uitgeverij.
